Rice Bran Murukku

Ingredients

Method

  • 1 Cup                Edible Rice Bran

  • 1 Cup Urad Dhal Flour

  • 2 Cups Rice Flour

  • 2 Teaspoons Salt

  • 1 Tablespoon Ghee

  • 2 cups Water

  1. Sift all the flours into a bowl and mix well.

  2. Add the salt and mix well.

  3. Add the wet ingredients and mix it together until it forms a soft ball. Note: add the water a little bit at a time, until it is soft enough to be able to be pushed through the murukku press

  4. Make smaller balls that will fit your murukku press.

  5. Put a ball into the murukku press and make a few murukkus onto small, greased plastic sheets.

  6. Heat the oil in a kadai to a medium heat.

  7. Slide 2 or 3 murukkus into the hot oil and fry until the bubbles reduce.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Cooking Time: 60 minutes 

Makes about 20 Murukkus
